Year 9 Geography students went to Northey Street City Farm last week, which is a permaculture and educational farm in Windsor. Here, they were able to watch permaculture in action. Students spent time discussing environmental factors, trying their hand at composting, tasting bushtucker, feeding organic chickens, learning about beekeeping as well as learning how Permaculture works towards building a more food-secure region.
Students also took data from soil tests for their report assessment, where they must form a strategy to improve food security in their suburb.
