Mueller College has just completed its first Spelling Bee for Upper Primary School with the grand final being hosted on Monday’s Upper Primary assembly. Facilitated by the Middle School and Senior School Academic Prefects, each year level was given 150 age-appropriate extension words to memorise over the span of 6 weeks before the first stage of the competition. We had many exceptional spellers enter the competition, and the Year Level winners are listed below.

Year 4 – Emmanuel Saju & Emma Peach

Year 5 – Julia Iaremchenko

Year 6 – Kimberly Tookarchi

These finalists then participated in a nerve-wracking high-stakes final on Upper Primary Assembly, where they bravely spelled in front of over 400 peers, parents and teachers. Each student was given an additional 10 words to spell from their age-appropriate extension words, and Emma Peach was awarded the overall first place with 20/20 correct in stage one and 10/10 correct in stage two of the competition. Well done all for doing so well, and a special congratulations to Emma for winning our inaugural Upper Primary Spelling Bee!
