Year 9 Visual Art students are currently exploring ‘art as storytelling’. Visiting local artist, Mariah Sweetman, recently ran an interactive workshop with the students. She explained how she tells stories through her art using symbolism; stories about her culture as a First Nations Australian, her faith in God, and her family heritage. Her work conveys meaning by telling scriptural, cultural and personal stories. Students had the opportunity to practically experiment with her style of art-making as part of the afternoon together.
