Year 11 Psychology students went to the QIMR Berghofer on Wednesday last week for their High School Lecture Series.Students heard Professors and Researchers present their findings on a variety of areas in psychology, including how we make sense of the brain, brain modelling, the genetics of depression, and new technologies for treating psychological disorders.
The researchers shared how they had come to psychological research through a variety of educational backgrounds (physics, forensics, engineering, biology), and students got to see how studying the brain doesn’t just happen through studying psychology but a variety of fields.
Students also toured the lab and viewed cancer and viruses under the microscope. The excursion showed students how wonderful, intricate, and complex God has made the human mind. There is so much we still have to learn about ourselves and others.
