Year 10, 11 & 12 Chinese students went off campus last week to get some hands-on cultural immersion in Brisbane. The group learned the art of a tea ceremony and interacted with the instructor in both Chinese and English.

They shopped together, tasted hot cakes, and went to a scrumptious hotpot restaurant where one of the highlights of the day unfolded. Students got to see a face-changing show, an ancient Chinese dramatic art that is part of the more general Sichuan opera. It is like a ‘magic trick’ where performers change from one face to another almost instantaneously with the swipe of a fan, a movement of the head, or a wave of the hand. There’s nothing like dinner and a show!
