Half of the Year 7 classes have been learning about typical Chinese foods, from afternoon snacks to classic regional Chinese dinners and from drinks to desserts. To improve their understanding of Chinese flavours, the students were able to taste green tea and chrysanthemum tea and sample a variety of packeted Chinese snacks during class.
Nexr, they will create a Fusion Menu that blends Australian and Chinese foods and cooking styles into unique dishes and present these to their classmates. The mind boggles at the amazing fusion foods that emerge on menus. Would you enjoy sitting down to three-course meal comprised of Chicken Crimpy flavoured Hello Pandas, deep fried sausage roll with soy-mato sauce, a moon-cake crumble for dessert, all washed down with iced eucalyptus tea? Maybe you’d prefer cheese and Wantwant crackers, vegemite dumplings and white rabbit fudge with a green tea slushie instead?
Who knows? If some of our students go on to combine Business and Food Technology studies and a dash of entrepreneurial endeavour, then perhaps we will see some of these dishes come to life in the future! Maybe this will be the moment a new food sensation is born. The possibilities are endless.
