Last Tuesday, the RAAF Aviation Candidate Management Centre visited Mueller to talk about RAAF careers and specifically the Officer Aviation (OA) career pathway which is the new way to screen candidates for pilot, air traffic control, and air combat officer. Now, you will not sign up as a ‘pilot’ as such but be screened for your suitability for one of the three positions.
Our Year 12 Aerospace Studies classes got to have a go in a RAAF FA-18 simulator, which was a highlight. RAAF Pilot Sara, Air Traffic Controller Allie, and Mission Aircrew (formerly Air Combat Officer) Rachael, also talked about life in the Air Force as well as providing a word of enouragement to young females who are considering an exciting career in today’s defence forces.
