Welcome to the new school year! We welcome all the new students, families and teachers to Mueller College and pray that your year will be filled with smiles, learning, growing experiences and fond memories.

It is always exciting to see the students and families return to the campus and for Mueller to regain its usual rhythm and energy. I trust your break was refreshing and that you have succeeded in conquering the ‘new shoes, new uniforms, cover the school-books and buy a new lunchbox’ phase of the year! The good news for parents is that holidays are now over and you can regain a bit of space in your day!

The energising aspect of a new year for everyone is the opportunity for a ‘fresh start’. No matter how last year finished there is the chance to start again and make positive steps towards your goals. Whilst New Year’s resolutions are rarely effective there is still value in identifying some areas which you can focus on in order to improve your schooling experience and outcomes. Whether it’s working a little harder, trying new things or just concentrating for longer in class the cumulative value of these changes can make a big difference to our school life.

Fresh starts at school are good but inevitably the energy of the new school year will wane. It is such a blessing and comfort to us that even when we fade and lose our momentum that God accepts and loves us. He is all about the fresh start, the new day and forgiveness of sins. We were recently discussing in the office how little rain it takes for the grass to become green again. How great it is to have a God that loves us and provides abundantly for us like rain for the dry ground. He reminds us that he is the God of ‘fresh starts’ in Isaiah 43:18-19:

18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

May your 2020 will be full of blessing and growth. All the best for Week One!
