Business students took a deep dive into the accounting world last week when they participated in a virtual incursion for the Business Educators Association of Queensland’s Accounting Student Forum. In partnership with QUT, the forum outlined various careers that students can pursue through accounting and the university pathways used to get there. They learned foundational accounting principles from guest lecturers and discussed the more creative ways accounting professionals can contribute to the growth and strategic avenues of organizations.

Most pointedly, it was argued that accounting is not just simply about numbers with students being advised not to think of the profession through the lens of stereotypes. With first-hand stories from the finance manager of Dominos Pizza thrown into the mix, the class received an insightful look into the window of the accounting industry.
