Basketball Academy has kicked off this term with teams on the court almost every day of the week. Our Academy Boys Captain is Year 12 student, Kyle Wilkins, and this week he shares with us about his love for the sport.
How long have you been playing basketball?
I have been playing organised basketball since I was 9. But I have had a basketball in my hands since I was a toddler.
Favourite player or team?
My favourite player currently is probably Luka Doncic.
Embarrassing fail on the court?
I was once crossed up and it got posted everywhere with thousands of views.
Success story on the court?
I don’t really have any personal achievements that stand out above the rest. In my opinion, success is both winning but also who you win with. Because of that playing with my dad and my brother and being able to win with them, is probably when I feel the most success on the court.
Why do you love the game?
Basketball is downtime for me. Although my brain is constantly buzzing and I’m exerting a lot of energy, it is a way for me to focus on one thing and just be in the moment.
