Year 9 Music students took a walk to the Peninsula Palms Retirement Village last week to perform assessment pieces for the residents. The group have been exploring pre-1900s Western Art music with an emphasis on baroque, classical and romantic music and the visit was an opportunity to showcase pieces from this genre to a live audience.

The Palms residents were encouraging listeners, always appreciating a musical interlude and the enthusiasm of youth. Quite a crowd took the time to come, some with extra incentive because they had grandchildren amongst the visiting group. Students finished the morning with an oldie but a goodie in Auld Lang Syne, prompting many to hum along and leave with a warm sense of nostalgia.
