Year One got outside the classroom last week as they explored being ‘Groundskeeper for a Day’. Led by groundskeeper Lynelle, each class learnt about the varieties of plants around the campus, what is needed to look after them, and how students can play a part in keeping gardens healthy. They talked about what makes a plant grow and how different leaves and flowers can bring colour, aroma, and beauty to the campus gardens.

Students looked closely at some compost (complete with worms!), learning how to make their own at home. After looking at some tools and safety equipment, Lynelle then gave them a demonstration of the hedge trimmer. Year One then got hands-on spreading mulch in the garden.
