I hope that you were able to come and enjoy your favourite things at the Mueller fete on Saturday. If you are 4 years old there was the teacup ride and the fairy floss. If you are 14 it was probably the rides and hanging out with your friends. If you are like me, and the 4 comes at the start of your age and not the end, then maybe the orange and poppyseed cake is your thing. Either way, I hope that you found your thing and were able to enjoy catching up with people, and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the 2024 Mueller Fete.

It is our largest community event of the year, and I was speaking to someone the next day who said, “It is so good that your school still does a fete! It must be a lot of effort”. In thinking about this a quote came to mind from a modern-day “philosopher” – Travis Kelce. He is one of the best players in the NFL (American Football), however, he is more well-known globally for being the boyfriend of Taylor Swift. When describing his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, he said, “It is one thing to be part of an organisation, it is another thing to be part of a community”. Mueller is not just an organisation.

Communities are built through shared contribution and the opportunity to come together and celebrate. The fete was certainly that on the weekend. It was even perfect fete weather. It is such a joy to see the excitement and happiness on the faces of the many Mueller students and others as they enjoyed the rides, food and fun that was there to be experienced. The Fete is also an ideal occasion for members of the broader community, who don’t attend Mueller to enjoy what Mueller has to offer. I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the tireless work of the many who volunteered their time and energy to make the day happen. Some people spent the entire day working and we appreciate your service and for welcoming the crowds.
