We’re very privileged at Mueller to have beautiful grounds to enjoy. Two large ovals, wide open pathways, big classrooms, a lake, and we even get the local wildlife visiting. Last week, some students spotted a little koala sitting in one of the big eucalypt trees on campus. What a treat it was for young and old to enjoy the fuzzy little fella!
In the busyness of Term 4, with lots of events to prepare for and the end of the year to wrap up, we can get easily consumed by all the things to do. Organising those Semi Formal or Formal outfits, getting ready for your preppie to graduate, some even starting to think Christmas! When we get bogged down in all the things, we can forget to look up.
Psalm 121 says:
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.”
Sometimes we miss out on seeing the koalas because we’re consumed by getting through all the things. The more things, the more tempting it is to do it all by our own ability. But God promises that He watches over us, He will not let us slip, and He will help us!
So today, rather than striving in your own strength to get all the things done, look up to God, the Maker of heaven and earth. He who watches over you will not slip.
