The last few weeks of Term 4 are truly some of my favourite moments of the year. There’s something special about this season—a sense of completion, of reflection, and most importantly, of celebration. I love any opportunity to celebrate, but I especially love getting to celebrate the achievements and growth of others.
Last week, we had the joy of honouring our Year 12s as they stepped out of high school, with graduation, final Chapel and a beautiful formal. Over the coming days, we’ll be celebrating milestones throughout our school community: our Year 1 students wrapping up their swimming program, students of all ages finishing their assessments, our youngest learners graduating from Prep, our Year 6 students ready to take on middle school, and the entire school gathering for Mega Chapel. Each of these events brings our school family together, reminding us of the beauty of cheering for one another.
Celebrating others is an important value to hold onto, even when we’re not the ones getting the certificate or standing in the spotlight. It’s about choosing to find joy in the accomplishments of those around us, just as we’d want them to celebrate our own. When we celebrate others, we build each other up, create a spirit of unity, and remind each other that every success is part of our shared journey.
The Bible encourages us to live this way, as we’re reminded in Romans 12:15: “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” These words remind us to be a community that celebrates together, stands by one another, and lifts each other up. By being genuinely happy for each other, we create a school culture filled with encouragement, support, and joy—a place where everyone’s achievements are valued.
As we wrap up this year, let’s continue to embrace the joy of celebrating each other’s hard work and milestones. Thank you all for a fantastic year and for being part of this community that knows how to rejoice together.
