2021 brings over 20 new staff to the Mueller community. This week we visited the Prep rooms to get to know a little more about new teacher, Amy De Wet…

What brought you to Mueller?

I am a Mueller Alumni! I was very privileged to have been able to graduate from Mueller and I have been a part of the Mueller community in some way or another throughout the last several years. I was very excited when an opportunity opened to join the teaching team at Mueller. I have very fond memories of my time here at Mueller as a student and it’s exciting to be a part of the beginning of so many journeys at such a fantastic school.

What is your current role?

My current role is as the Prep Yellow teacher! I absolutely love prep and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know my class this past week.

What are you most passionate about in teaching/your role?

I am passionate about supporting young children to thrive and flourish in their early years of schooling. I also love developing positive relationships with families and sharing in their child’s developmental and academic achievements.

What was your very first job?

My first job was as a trainee at Mueller College Early Learning Centre! I studied my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care while I was in high school and worked one day a week in the Yellow Room. I absolutely loved my time at MCELC and learnt so much from all the educators there. The kindergarten teacher who supervised me was the one who encouraged me to study my bachelor!

Coffee of choice?

My go to coffee is a large almond latte. You’ll see me down at Hudson’s grabbing a coffee whenever I have time to pop out of Prep!
