The creative industry is made up of all sorts of specialised professions and last week, Year 10 Film, TV, and New Media students spent the day exploring one of them. The group had the opportunity to be trained by a visiting professional makeup artist – not to beautify their faces but rather, to apply special effects like those used on screen and stage.

Burns, scars, cuts and grazes were the order of the day with each student carefully practising their new skills on themselves and their classmates. One of them even had a turn at applying their own facial hair. There were plenty of double-takes at lunch time when they took their creations around campus!

They were sent home with their own small kit of makeup supplies to continue fine-tuning the craft and perhaps take steps toward one day playing their own part in the creative industry.
