On Saturday October 21st, Mrs Holden and Mr Rule took 15 students from Grades 7 to 9 to the Queensland Junior Anglers Fishing Competition held on Moreton Island.

Mueller College won the championship with the most substantial cumulative weight of fish.

The standout achievements of the day featured Casey Gamble, who clinched the prestigious title of South Queensland Champion Under 18, having skillfully landed three sizable flathead, measuring 54cm, 56cm, and 62cm. In addition, Xavier Purcell was crowned the Champion Under 14 after reeling in a formidable 58cm flathead. The students were rewarded with an assortment of fishing gear prizes in recognition of their accomplishments.

It was stunning weather and proved to be a valuable learning experience, offering insights into setting up fishing lines, baiting hooks, and employing a range of fishing techniques, including the use of plastic or soft plastic lures, resulting in the successful capture of a diverse array of fish.
