National Volunteer Week (May 20-26) stands as Australia’s premier annual celebration of volunteering, highlighting the invaluable contributions individuals make to various causes. The theme for 2024 is ‘Something for Everyone’, recognising the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to volunteering, and is an invitation to explore the myriad opportunities available to people who want to give volunteering a go.

Certificate III Events students at Mueller College each year volunteer their time at Moreton Bay community events as part of their learning outcomes within the Certificate III Events qualification. This year students will be ticketing for thousands of residents and guests to the Moreton Bay Region at events such as The Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival, Kite Festival and Jetty 2 Jetty (J2J).

Last week, Moreton Bay Regional Tourism and Industry (MBRIT) recognised members of the community for their service as volunteers. David Scherer, our Events, Hospitality and Tourism teacher, was acknowledged for his contribution to service within the region for more than five years of volunteering at community events. The award was presented by the deputy mayor and Moreton Bay regional councillors.
