If you go into any Prep Class and ask them what they want to be when they grow up, you hear a variety of pretty amazing professions. Fireman, Racing car driver, Singer, Scuba diver, Ice-cream taster, Circus clown. You get some very creative responses.
What a great day the Mueller fete was on Saturday! The smiling faces, the music and laughter on the rides, the smell of doughnuts and pizzas cooking and the magnificent winter weather all adds up to everything we wanted the fete to be. The sense of community was palpable, and I even ran into a bunch of past students who were making the annual trip back to the Mueller Fete.
Semester Two has begun. On behalf of Mueller College I would like to welcome new families to our community. We trust that you will quickly feel that ‘you belong’ and your child/ren settle in to their new school.
In reflecting on the many student achievements of the semester there is much to be thankful for: a wonderful musical ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, a moving ANZAC Day service and march back in April, Year level camps for Year Eight and Eleven and lots of great learning. Even this week there has been Year Six Colonial Day, The Day of the Notables for Year Eight, Primary Athletics and ‘Principal for a Day’. No wonder we need a holiday! Whilst we are very proud of our students and these achievements, we are conscious that Mueller College is made up of 1560 individuals, each of whose development is equally important.
Despite the fact there is not a Jacaranda flower in sight, you just know it’s that time of year again. You can just feel it in the air. Exam time.

School is compulsory, but no one says it has to be painful. At Mueller, we want to create a community which people feel part of, and genuinely want to contribute to, because they belong.
This is life and we want our culture to be one that celebrates, learning, growing, diversity and inclusion of all students at all times. No matter what is happening in our lives, no matter how well or bad things are, He is always calling us to Him and to live a life with Him, free. Free to love, free to learn, free to forgive and free to grow and share.
Each school term, we focus on one of our four value statements. This may be through the messages we communicate with our students, the cultural events that are run, and through the various opportunities that invite a student response.
This week we lead into NAPLAN testing for the Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 students. NAPLAN is not something that we put undue attention or pressure on, however it does provide us with valuable information about the literacy and numeracy progress of our students. The diversity of learning offered in Mueller places high value on not only academic pursuits but social and emotional development, interpersonal skills, confidence and creativity. We wish students ‘all the best’ this week, regardless of the activity they are undertaking and pray that will enjoy their week in the Mueller community.
