On Tuesday last week I attended the World Vision Youth conference with eight other high school students and Mr. Peasey.  This is an annual conference that World Vision created to educate the youth of Australia about the injustice that goes on in the world today. They informed us about the millions of displaced people currently around the world and the kind of everyday struggles that refugees experience.
We heard from two speakers, both of whom came from third world countries. They shared about their experiences and stories of their childhood. The speakers explained to us how different it is to grow up in a country of freedom, where we are entitled to our own opinions and religious beliefs, compared to a place where people are fleeing from their homes because they fear if they stay there any longer they could face persecution.
The conference was a real eye opener to many and put us in a position to think about how grateful we should be for the endless amounts of opportunity we have here in Australia.  World Vision shared how we can make a difference and that our generation is the future leaders and change makers of the world. This whole experience has given me a drive to want to make a change and think about how I can contribute to my local community as well as the nations.
