We recently took a peek into a Year 8 Science class to discover them ready to launch into an experiment. After first working through the elements of an experiment and thoroughly revising safety components (ties tucked safely away from flames!), students took to the benches to put their theories to the test.

The aim of the day was to measure the energy of a potato chip. By measuring the temperature of a body of water, using a burning chip to heat the water, and then determining the difference in temperature they were able to apply laws of energy to discover their result.

Hopefully, in the process, there were not just potatoes lit on fire but a joy for science sparked as well.
