36 Year 11 students traveled to the Sunshine Coast at the end of the last term to embark on the annual Survival Camp. The preparation for the adventure was almost as much of a task as the camp, with students using knowledge from the ‘Lightweight Camping’ unit to pack equipment and plan & purchase food for the 4 days.

The camp itself is designed to push students physically, mentally, and socially, with around 50km of walking/paddling. Mr Garthe said the group embraced the challenges and took opportunities to work through their weaknesses, develop their talents and, most importantly, refine their character. As part of the program,  students were divided into four tribes and had fun battling it out in epic challenges.

The nights were frigid on Lake Cootharaba but they had beautiful sunny days and perfect conditions for paddling through the beautiful everglades. The photos reflect some pretty spectacular sights they saw along the way.
