This time last year, I was getting ready for the USA Homestay Tour with a group of Mueller students. The host school was Prestonwood Christian Academy in Dallas, Texas. One of the memories I have is the huge financial contribution that the community need to make in order for the school to operate. On top of school fees, there are regular giving days and capital funding requests to operate the school. In Australia, we are blessed with government funding to assist the day to day operation of the College as well as capital funding for building works.

One of our values at Mueller is ‘Everyone Belongs and Can Contribute to Community’. At Prestonwood, a contribution to the community often takes the form of financial support, even from the students through fundraising.

At Mueller, what does ‘contributing’ to the community look like?

We ask the students to contribute in their everyday actions in and out of the classroom. A positive student driven culture is the best environment for students to thrive and it is every student’s responsibility to contribute in this way.  The Year 7s have a saying ‘when everyone does a little, a lot gets done’. Every Year 7 student plays their small role in the positive student culture

Every Friday afternoon there is a parent prayer group which meets in Hudsons from 2:15pm. We would love to have your contribution through prayer if you can make it. If you are not the praying type, you are more than welcome to just come along for a coffee and the company.

The Mueller community is one where we would like everyone to contribute in a positive way.
