It was another great day at the Mueller Fete on Saturday! It was a joy to see the smiles on the faces of children, the shock on the faces of those who braved the big rides and the inevitable donut sugar left on the faces of those who enjoyed donuts for a dollar! We all have our own favourite things about the fete – food, rides, fireworks, animals or maybe it is the Lego. My highlights are mostly related to the food! I must confess there is less and less temptation for me to venture onto any of those rides though.

It is important to have events like this that are for the school community to just enjoy, without the pressure to do more than just show up and have a good time. I spoke with one Prep parent who said her daughter looks forward to the fete from the finish of one year to the start of the next. We love that the blessings that we enjoy at Mueller can be shared openly with not only Mueller families, but the broader Redcliffe population. I spoke to many people who have no child here at Mueller, in fact, no affiliation with the school at all. They had merely heard that it was a fun and safe event and brought their family along to enjoy it. This reflects the heart of generosity of the Mueller Community Church and Mueller College to welcome those in the local community. As Mr Valese says: “The fete is measured in smiles and not dollars!”

The Bible talks a lot about the ‘gifts of the body (of people)’, meaning that we each have something to give to those in the community. The fete is a prime example of this, as many people give their time, effort, and skills to make the Mueller fete happen. It is a very large undertaking to pull together such a large community event and we offer sincere thanks to those who invested days, weeks, even months in organising, setting up and cleaning up after the 2023 fete. To everyone who flipped a burger, moved a fence, picked up some rubbish or sold a ticket – thank you! I am sure there are students who are already counting down to the 2024 Mueller Fete!
