How good is the Ekka!

Whether you love or hate going to the Ekka, the idea behind it is terrific: the opportunity to bring the very best of agricultural life to the big city.

From the time the first Brisbane Exhibition was held way back in 1876, hard-working country people would prepare all year to showcase their effort and skill. Whether or not we’re into wood-chopping, or the best livestock, or produce, or culinary skills, we can all appreciate the effort and preparation that goes into making the Ekka what it is. And I’m pretty sure we all love the annual day off as well!

But this made me think about the whole idea of preparation. Here at Mueller, we exist to prepare students for life beyond school.

As Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train children in the way they should go; when they grow old, they won’t depart from it.”

We recognise that preparing students for life starts at such a young age. We’re all about teaching students not just the Australian curriculum but the character and skills to succeed in life, so they can look forward to the future with hope and confidence. And this is all based on the good news of Jesus and his gift of salvation.

So if you get to the Ekka this year, marvel at the effort and preparation of everyone involved. But even better, embrace the journey we’re all on in preparing our students for the future.
